Not coming down from this high!

>> Saturday, August 30, 2008

Short on words this evening as I'm still enjoying the complete HIGH from last night. All from a last minute decision to go see Counting Crows/Maroon 5 live at DTE. I frantically called for a babysitter, cleaned the house, ordered pizza and got ready in 4 short hours, grabbed the neighbors and off we went. We were seated 9 rows from the stage and I felt like I was on cloud 9. The Counting Crows have been my favorite band since junior high. I remember getting their August and Everything After cd and listening to it soo much that it wore out. I also remember meeting my husband in Canada and the thing that got us talking was our love for the crows (Raining in Baltimore- inside joke). At the concert, I was that girl that was singing every word to every song. Screaming my head off and waving my arms and dancing like a lunatic. My eyes kept wandering to the big screen and then I would think "Wait....I can see Adam right in front of me, why am I looking at the screen?" It was truly amazing. I rocked out like I was teenager again. I'm pretty sure that Adam Duritz winked at me and Sarah and I swear that Adam Levine was singing "Infatuation" right to us (side note: isn't he the yummiest thing ever?). The thump of the bass in rhythm with my heart while the beat of the drums filling my whole self with an energy that is really hard to describe. I'm still flying high!

(Pictures were taken from the cell phone so beware of crappiness)

I'm hooked!!!!!!

>> Tuesday, August 19, 2008

I don't usually do book reviews since I read so much and I highly beleive that ones opinion on books may vary (thats why I love book club!) but today you are in luck. I know that some of you may not like this book but you know....I don't care. Its my blog, I'm really taken with this book series and I do what I want (said in a Cartman from Southpark voice-haha)

Bought Twilight by Stephenie Meyer on Saturday evening. Started reading it Sunday evening and read till 3am (300+ pages into the book). Finished the book last night around 130am. I'm exhausted but also exhilirated. I'm completely hooked. Not only is the book about horror fiction (my utmost favorite) but its also a love story that has me misty eyed, angry and truly feeling for these characters. After finishing Twlight last night, I read about 2 chapters into book #2 in the series, New Moon. Stephenie Meyer has done a fantastic job at writing so you can picture yourself in the book, in the places that shes detailing, and feeling the emotions of the characters. Ahh.....I just love it! Infact, I'm done blogging for tonight so I can go curl up and read. You may not hear me ranting much this week as I'm sure I will be finishing the series by Sunday. Google it, read it and I hope you enjoy it as much as I surely am.

I've always said that I was seriously meant to come to earth in the 60's. When I was in the spirit world, and Heavenly Father asked me when I would prefer to come to earth; I know I said 1951 (so I would be 18 years old in 1969-Woodstock baby!), but maybe he was having a bad day or too many prayers to answer, or because he is my Heavenly Father he just knew that would have been a HORRIBLE idea and he decided to hear me wrong and sent me 29 years later. What the heck! Oh well, I'm still a hippie at heart!. Check out the link....although I'm finding the "drug" wordage pretty hilarious, the quiz was "far out, man!"

You Belong in 1961

You are a free spirit with a huge heart. Love, peace, and happiness rule - oh, and drugs too.

I am....ME~
I think....about ways to make life enjoyable for my boys
I know...that I can do anything I put my mind to
I want... wide open spaces

I have...two preschooler boys
I wish....upon falling stars
I hate...posers (aka: fake people)
I miss...NC

I fear....anything ever happening to my boys
I feel... frustrated
I hear... mythbusters
I smell... fresh laundry

I search... the internet
I wonder... what the answer to our bid will be
I regret... nothing
I love...life
I care....about those around me

I always...drink water
I am not....a quitter
I believe... things happen for a reason
I dance... to CCR

I sing...all the time
I don't always...think before I speak
I write... my thoughts and feelings
I win... every day I wake up

I lost... all my baby weight
I never... try to be someone other than me
I listen... to classic rock
I can usually be found... outside

I'm scared of... the ocean/sharks
I read....every night
I forget...everything.
I just...talked to my mom
I am happy about...the way I'm raising my boys

When you hurt, I hurt
Wish I could take it away
and bring your smile back

When it rains it pours
the cloud seems to be lingering
I'll be here always
And when the sun shines
we'll shine in it together
until then remember
I'll bring my umbrella!

What Works for me Wednesday!

When you combine two toddlers that are extremly independent and lunch time, what do you get? Tray Lunches!!!! I can't take full credit for this idea as I found it in a book a lloonngg time ago, but I have been doing this for a while and the boys absolutely love it. Mommy loves it too. Just use any kind of cupcake pan you have in your cabinet. The boys think its so great to have their food in little "cups" and feel so grown up when they can make their own food any way they like it. J & Z are not in the slightest picky about food, but if your little one is particular about what they eat, this would be a great way to introduce new and exciting food to their palates. I have done pizza trays, with torn up pita bread, sauce, cheese, pepperoni, mushrooms, etc and have done rainbow trays with as many colors of food that I could come up with. What I put in the trays today was simple: Soy butter, blueberry jam, cream cheese, grapes, cheese, salami, raisens, and celery. I used a cookie cutter to cut out the star shapes on the bread but you could do any shape or even coordinate the shape with what you are learning about that week/day. (Note: I did the star shape because we have been talking about the meteor showers the past couple days). It was a fun learning tool too, to count the number of grapes or goldfish and name the different fruits or veggies or talk about colors. The possibilities are endless. Try it out tomorrow! You will enjoy it as much as the kiddos will!

J using full concentration on his sandwich
Z happy about making his favorite sandwich (soy butter piled high with raisens)

Looking back

>> Monday, August 11, 2008

This weekend was very reflective for me. Meeting up with classmates I haven't seen nor talked to in 10 years was quite a ride. I don't think I've ever said "So- what cha been up to?" so many times in my life. People change and families begin and grow. Pounds are added on or shed. Hair is cut or grown long or just plain gone. Its just strange. Strange in the fact that these are the people that have known me since I was my sons age. I have pictures of many of us in nursery school or at kindergarten graduation. Strange in the fact that these are the people that watched me mature and go through identity changes. Strange that these are the people that stood beside me when we received our diplomas and final salutes as high school graduates when we walked from the small gym into the real world. It was neat to be away for so long, but to fall right back into the swing of friendship, laughter and smiles in a matter of minutes of seeing each other again. So here is to the class of 1998 and the many memories we shared, and the many more to come. Untill we meet again.....

My hometown scenery

It was sooo cold! Windy, rainy and 58 Degrees in August in Michigan~What the heck??

My old friend, Anna, and myself. It was sooo great to see her again! I have missed you girl!
